We’ve just heard from our friends from One Iowa about a tremendous victory. An anti-gay candidate in Southeast Iowa, who was backed with almost $90,000 from the National Organization for Marriage (NOM), was defeated, thwarting an attempt to use equality for LGBT people as a wedge issue.
This victory is huge and is not to be underestimated. But our fight is nowhere near over. Our opponents are not giving up. Recently NOM announced they are hiring staff in Iowa and have launched their “Reclaim Iowa” project, a full-fledged attack on the basic rights of same-sex couples.
We know that our opponents are just beginning their campaign to repeal the fundamental right of same-sex couples to marry. It’s up to us to ensure that they do not succeed.
Please give to One Iowa and stand on the side of justice, defending the rights of same-sex couples and our families.

P.S. One Iowa is working aggressively on all fronts: Just last Monday they filed a formal complaint against the National Organization for Marriage for various election law violations in Iowa. Be sure to stay engaged because it will take everything from everyone to protect our basic rights.
